The unpopular chairwoman of Taviscombe village fete, Frieda Spencer, is killed on the second attempt. Very soon Frieda's toyboy lover is charged with the killing. But Shiela doesn't beleive in his guilt - she is convinced the seeds of murder were planted more than 50 years before.
