The Savage Valley by James Penny
In 1756 a unique Regiment sailed from Britain to her American colonies to play its part in a war waged largely in a savage wilderness against a skilful enemy. Composed entirely of Scottish Highlanders, it was the first of its kind to take a place among the Regular Regiments of the British Army. Officially designated the 42nd Regiment of Foot, it was better known among the Gaelic speaking people whose menfolk filled its ranks by a nickname. 'Am Freiceadan Dhu.' The Black Watch.
