Cari is devastated when her husband Martin leaves her for another woman. Her friend Nigel persuades her to get a bank loan and buy a house to do up for rental but soon she's lumbered with her infuriating mother, a drug-addict tenant who gets her arrested and a sister on the edge of a breakdown.
