The ECG in Practice Summary

The ECG in Practice by John R. Hampton

This is a companion volume to "The ECG Made Easy". This text assumes the level of knowledge contained in "The ECG Made Easy", and describes the variations between ECG's recorded in health and disease. Chapters start with a consideration of how a patient's history and physical examination can be used to make a diagnosis that will allow the ECG to be used as effectively as possible. Each chapter ends with a summary of action to be taken if ECG abnormalities are identified. The practical organization of information is designed for quick and easy bedside reference. It has more tables and lists of information than before and a strong clinical emphasis on application of ECG interpretation. 12 lead ECGs have been rearranged in this edition to correspond to records made by three-channel (rather than single-channel) recorders. It is aimed at postgraduate trainee technicians.

Table of Contents

The ECG in healthy people; the ECG in patients with palpitations and syncope; the ECG in patients with chest pain; the ECG in patients with breathlessness; the effect of non-cardiac disease on the ECG; the physiological basis of the ECG; conclusions and reminders.
