Summary

Three women, their lives curiously interwoven, are forced to live a lie. Zarah, a Eurasian, is denying her Indian origins; Sybil, a Jewess, is passing as a gentile; and Leda, an Englishwoman, escapes a loveless marriage by losing herself in mysticism. Fate takes each of the women to Egypt.
