A collection of fairy tales by women storytellers of the 17th and 18th centuries. They are retellings of fairy stories by women who used the fairy tale genre to comment on their own times. The stories are translated by authors such as Alan Hollinghurst, Gilbert Adair, John Ashbery and A.S. Byatt.
