About Mark Burgess

Mark Burgess has been a writer of children's books for the last twenty years. He also works as an artist and computer programmer, designing greetings cards, web sites and animations. He studied Fine Art at the Slade School in London and now lives in a small village in the south-west of England. Russell Ayto has illustrated books by many leading picture book authors including Ian Whybrow and Cressida Cowell. His book The Witch's Children was shortlisted for the Greenaway Award in 2004 and The Witch's Children and the Queen won the Gold Award for the Nestle Children's Book Prize in 2003.
