Get ahead! Specialties: 100 EMQs for Finals Reviews

Split into 10 EMQ-style papers, each containing 10 questions, this book guides you through Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. The questions cover all aspects of the specialties, from diagnosis and treatment to basic science. Each paper is based on one of the specialties so it is equally useful for revision for end of module exams as it is for finals. Designed to take 90 minutes for each paper, they can be easily incorporated into a busy revision schedule, or you can just dip in and out when you like.

Detailed explanations are provided in answer to each question, with information on eponymous syndromes added for interest. These explanations really are the highlight of the book, written to contain all the important information you need, summarised in an easy-to-understand format that makes you want to read more. And, good news for those aiming for honours, the authors have included harder stems just for you!
Keele MedNews, Aug 2008

5 stars: Daring to be the first to really teach as well as practise EMQs, this newcomer is perhaps the finest series of EMQ books available for students. Within the explanations, attention and detail is given not just to the right answer, but the remaining options on the list too. With 100 EMQs covering the potentially monstrous obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, and psychiatry, this Get Ahead! SPECIALTIES is unquestionably essential for your specialties year.

5 Stars: Great for Paeds, O&G and Pysch
This is a great EMQ book for specialtes - great for Paeds, O&G and Pysch, worth buying for 4th year clinics.

Amazon customer review, Dec 08

5 Stars: A brilliant book
It covers paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry in lots of detail. All the answers are explained thoroughly and lots of background information is given for each EMQ answer. It also covers the options that were not the answers, which many EMQ books don't do. I highly recommend this book!

Amazon customer review, Dec 2009

5 Stars: Specialties EMQs for Finals
This is a comprehensive revision guide, covering all the core material for undergraduate level. The answers section is the best part of this guide, as aside from explaining the answer, it gives a good introduction to the topic, and excellent references to the national guidelines.
