Like so many London families, every year in the 1950s the eight-strong Lawson family set off to spend six summer weeks picking hop. It was a great adventure, especially for a lad approaching his teens. Rober Lawson scrumped apples, had a first romance, fought with the locals, and all-in-all had the time of his life.
