Kings and Queens of England and Britain Summary

Kings and Queens of England and Britain by Roy Charles

Kings and Queens of England and Britain is a Quality Pocket Book ( A6 ) which takes its readers on a journey from the Saxons in 802, through William The Conqueror right up to the current day monarch Queen Elizabeth II and the three heirs apparent including King Charles III. It is an updated version of the second title in White on Black's A6 genre including 14 new portraits and extended Royal Household sections which arms its readers with highlights of each King or Queen's reign and also what sort of people we have had as Head of State through many invasions and battles, the execution of Charles I, two World Wars and much, much more. You will find out who was the first English Monarch to have a proper portrait on his coins, who kept a drunken Elephant, who was the first King to use a dressing gown, who had the most illegitimate children, who competed at Wimbledon, who is behind the Royal Oak pubs and who used their Royal Navy severance pay to fund the tackling of community issues. The book is crammed full of these and other interesting facts, which gives the reader a fantastic oversight on the character of each monarch, along with original full colour portraits. As is now tradition with the White on Black brand, A donation from each sale will be given to The Prince's Trust.

About Roy Charles

Author, Roy Charles, was born in Westminster, London and has lived in and around this great city and revelled in its deep history all his life. Roy's interest started at school, fascinated by and engaging with the characters, their battles and castles and then the social and geographical changes they brought about ( in that order ! ). At the same time he also used to collect Tea Cards. From 1954 until 1999, packets of Brooke Bond tea included small, illustrated cards, about 50 in a series, which were collected by many children. Elizabeth I to Elizabeth II, Famous Britons and British Costume were some of the subjects covered, and there were a total of about 85 separate titles issued around the world: 59 series published in the UK, 17 series in Canada, 7 of these were released in the USA, 6 series in what was Rhodesia, and 3 series in South Africa. In 2016, Roy noted that there was not an A6 book of British Prime Ministers in existence, hence the first in the WoB style ( white text on black background ) was published in November 2017, which reflected the tea card format of about 200 words per subject and a colour portrait. - but specifically covering UK historical topics. Roy has spent much of his career in Information Technology ( IT ) Services as well as being a part-time professional singer and music producer. From 2000 to 2005, Roy was also the Chairman of a UK Government Learning and Skills Council responsible for funding post 16 education. Roy now resides in Ash, Kent, on the outskirts of London with his family, having been blessed with four children. Series now includes British Prime Ministers, Kings and Queens of England and Britain, British Castles and Palaces, British Battles from 825 to Present with Great British Women in production.
