Widowed Anna met and married Ian after he divorced his wife, Hester; Ian's daughter Jessie lives with them and Anna's sons are off travelling. When Hester learns that Ian has remarried, she finds a new object for her vitriol - the woman who stole her husband and child. And Hester wants them back.

Sara MacDonald was born in Yorkshire and travelled extensively as a Forces child. She attended drama school in London and worked in television before she married. Stories, articles and poetry by Sara have appeared in a number of magazines and her first novel, FALLS THE SHADOW, was published in 1989. She lives in a cottage near St Ives with two cats and a mongrel.
