A wider knowledge base within community nursing is needed to meet the demands of the role. The authors highlight the main concepts of current practice such as assessment of need, understanding the nature of needs, and effective management, to provide signposts for further development. It includes case studies illustrate many of the wider applications of management of health promotion and nursing care.
