Rebel Cook Summary

Rebel Cook: Breaking the Rules for Brilliant Food by Simon Rimmer

Simon Rimmer first 'broke the rules' when he bought a small vegetarian restaurant as a dedicated meat-eater and without knowing how to cook. Forced to learn back-to-front, he was soon producing some of the most innovative and critically acclaimed food in Manchester. Unconstrained by preconceived ideas and formal training, he has developed a fresh and eclectic cooking style that takes its inspiration from global food, from his mum's table and from the best chefs in the world. In The Rebel Cook, Simon brings us a selection of some of his favourite recipes. From new inventions to exotic twists on old favourites, his food is easy to prepare, totally delicious and always inspirational. From lemon grass creme brulee to duck with sticky ginger or lasagne Simon-style, Rebel Cook proves that the best rules are only there to be broken.

About Simon Rimmer

Simon Rimmer set up his restaurant 'Greens' in Manchester in 1992 with two recipe books and no formal training. Since then his restaurant has blossomed and received much critical acclaim -- it was recently voted best North West Restaurant of the Year. He is now enjoying great success as a TV chef, filming three new series for BBC1 (My Little Farmer Went to Market, Great British Menu, and To Buy or Not to Buy) as well as co-presenting Great Food Live for UKTV Food and his successful series for Granada, Grub's Up, now in its third series for ITV1. His first book, Accidental Vegetarian (Cassell Illustrated, 2004) has been a huge success.
