Deb Robinson Q&A
What was the first book you ever fell in love with?
Midnight by Dean Koontz was the first book that really enthralled me as an adult – it’s so well-written, it drew me in from the very first page and didn’t ever let go. Midnight is not just a horror/thriller, it’s almost claustrophobic in its intensity! It really explores what it is to be human, and the characters are well-rounded and believable!
What book is currently on your bedside table?
The Crimson Petal and The White by Michel Faber. I started reading this as I’m enchanted by the Victorian era and was intrigued to read the story of how an ambitious, quick-witted, intelligent prostitute could find her power and build a better life for herself. So far this is a multi-layered story with fascinating characters, filled with gossip and intrigue, and I’m enjoying it immensely.
Where do you go for inspiration?
Inspiration is all around me – my first series of books, The Magickal Library Book Series is a collection of books filled with magick, witchcraft, and wisdom – as my day-to-day life is running Witch Casket, the magickal monthly subscription box, with my daughter, Ella, I am surrounded by magick every day, and I am inspired by the global family of witches we have helped over the years, and I’m fuelled by my desire to make witchcraft more accessible.
What’s your top tip for helping the planet?
It doesn’t have to be new! Our home is filled with Victoriana, for example, and furnishing my rooms with items that have history, not only feeds my soul, but helps the planet. Thrifting, repurposing, recycling…are all small ways we can help the planet with very minimal effort. And bonus tip – be kind, the planet and its inhabitants need that more than anything else right now.
If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be?
Maybe set a boundary or two! Be kind but watch for those who might take advantage. Trust your intuition above all else. That intuition will never let you down, and each time you ignore it, you’ll regret it! Love yourself.
