Stephen Poliakoff, born in 1952, was named writer in residence at the National Theatre in 1976, and his play Hitting Town and City Sugar received the Evening Standard's Most Promising Writer award that year. The Lost Prince (BBC, 2003), which won three Emmy Awards, Friends & Crocodiles (BBC, 2005), and Gideon's Daughter (BBC, 2006), which won two Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, are among his most recent works.
