The Saxon Shore by David Rudkin

Faith Continues Its Journey
This sequel to 'Loren's Journey Of Faith' tells the readers what Loren and Andy are doing with their lives.

In the little town of Waverly, both of them become involved with the local teenagers with hopes of getting them into the local church. Loren meets with some senior girls who are interested in learning hair styles, make-up and fancy tea parties. Loren has a small group come out to the farm where she explains her 'journey of faith'. Along with what the girls want, Loren tries to introduce them to the Bible and Jesus.
Shelly, one of the senior girls takes everything Loren is trying to teach them seriously. She struggles to find a 'journey of faith' of her own. A neighbor girl who is a junior, is struggling with life with only a working mother to support the two of them. Shelly decides to try to help the girl, Maggie. Together they work through Loren's program with Christ as their main goal.
Andy is busy working on a computer chip capable of going to NASA Space Center. Danger is soon present as the knowledge of his chip becomes known.
A runaway orphan boy called Kit, comes to live with Loren and Andy. With his help and Ranger, the horse, they scare the 'bad guys' away from Andy's workshop.
The teenage boys who did not make the grade to play on the varsity basketball team, end up in Andy's company playing ball. The city park offers a full court to play their games. With the girls as their cheerleaders, the boys shine.

David Rudkin's first play, Afore Night Comes, staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company in their 1962 experimental season, informed the Company's revolutionizing approach to the performance of Shakespeare. David writes for television, radio, and theatre.
