The Giant Postman by Sally Grindley
The Giant Postman is creating mayhem in the village - until Billy comes to the rescue with a brilliant idea! He writes the giant postman a letter, explaining how frightened everyone is, and bravely delivers it himself. The Giant is delighted - he's never had any post before! He sends Billy a reply saying: sorry, but giants just can't help being clumsy...The story ends with a giant birthday party, and because the villagers choose such a clever present the whole village is able to celebrate their new friendship with the giant postman as a result!
Sally Grindley is the author of many best-selling titles including Shhh! which won the Children's Book Award and was shortlisted for the Smarties Prize, and Peter's Place (both Andersen). Sally wrote Kingfisher's best-selling picture book series What Are Friends For? as well as another I Am Reading title, Captain Papper's Pets. She lives in Gloucestershire with her three sons. Wendy Smith is the popular writer and illustrator of many books, including The Fit Fat Cat, The Lonely, Only Mouse (Hamish Hamilton) and Say Hello, Tilly! (Macmillan). She has also illustrated many books by other authors, such Margaret Mahy's Keeping House (Hamish Hamilton) and Tick Tock Tales (Orion). Wendy lives in Exeter, Devon.
