Homer is a mythological ancient Greek poet who is credited with writing the Iliad and Odyssey, the two most famous Greek epics. Homer is frequently identified as the starting point of Western literary and historical tradition because both volumes are considered monuments in human literature. Samuel Butler (1835-1902) was an English novelist, translator, and artist who lived from 1991 to 2000. He is best known for his novel The Way of All Flesh and his Iliad and Odyssey translations.
