Phil Lynch is author of the motivational blog UpTeach (upteach.blogspot.com), the leading site of encouragement for educators. He holds a degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in history from Fort Hays State University, Kansas. A former United Methodist youth pastor, Phil is a psychology and social studies instructor with over twenty years' experience helping students reach their potential in the Escanaba, Michigan, public schools. Phil is also a lifelong musician, having received in high school - as a bit of foreshadowing - the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. In his spare time he's a semi-professional jazz pianist scouring the backwoods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula for gigs with his trio. He resides in Escanaba, on the north shore of Lake Michigan, with his wife and four children.
