Each stage of the test, the manoeuvres, and how to practise them, are described, including the test format and marking, manoeuvring-area layout, road sense, reversing, braking and coupling and uncoupling, and are supported by clear photographs and diagrams. The author also emphasizes specifically applicable to towing horses not covered by the test. This is the third "Allen Photographic Guide" in John Henderson's trilogy, the first two of which were "Towing Horse Trailers" and "Trailer Maintenance". John Henderson is a freelance journalist and photographer specializing in motoring and equestrian subjects. He is also the author of The Glovebox Guide to Transporting Horses. He has written about trailers and towing for Horse and Hound, Your Horse, Horse and Rider, Horse Exchange, Eventing, Land Rover Monthly, Land Rover Owner and caravan magazines. He and his wife, Carolyn, are co-authors of Clipping, another guide in this series, and his photographs illustrate many of Carolyn's books, including other Allen Photographic Guides and Showing Secrets, The Parents' Pony Book and The Problem Pony Book, also published by J.A. Allen.
