Donall Mac Amhlaigh (1926-1989) was one of the most important Irish-language writers of the 20th century. A native of County Galway, he is best known for his novels and short stories concerning the lives of the more than half-a-million Irish people who left Ireland for post-war Britain. Mac Amhlaigh has a unique talent and his chronicles of the Irish emigrant people - sometimes known as the "silent or forgotten generation" - that remarkable generation who made Britain their home in the post-war era. Micheal o hAodha is an Irish-language poet from Galway in the west of Ireland. He has published many books in both Irish and English, including books written under various pseudonyms. He has written poetry, short stories, journalism and academic books on Irish social history, particularly as relating to the Irish working-class experience, and the Irish who emigrated to Britain.
