His previous four books on French Battleships, Cruisers and Destroyers were critical and commercial successes, and he also produced a study of the impact of the Washington naval treaty called _Warships after Washington_. PHILIPPE CARESSE, his collaborator on this book, is a leading French authority, and the author of numerous books and monographs on late nineteenth century French warships.
