Gavin D. Smith spent two years talking to people whose working lives have been spent in the Scotch whisky industry. He has recorded and edited the results of many conversations, which have taken place the length and breadth of Scotland, and in this book he allows the whisky-makers of Scotland to do the talking.

Gavin D. Smith was born in County Durham, and read English at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He currently lives on the Fife coast in Scotland, and is a freelance journalist and author, specialising in writing about horse racing, beer and whisky. He is the author of a dozen books, including six previous whisky-related titles.
