A prize-winning equestrian artist shows how to understand the make and shape of horses and ponies in order to portray them in sketches, paintings, and pastel and crayon drawings. Attention is given to the horse at rest and in movement, and to the different breeds and types of horse and pony, and advice is given on how to draw riders and saddlery, and the importance of background and atmosphere. The various techniques of cartoon drawing, fantasy and book illustration are covered, and many examples of Jennifer Bell's own work are included.
