Über Siri Hustvedt

Siri Hustvedt is the author of seven novels - The Blindfold, The Enchantment of Lily Dahl, What I Loved, The Sorrows of an American, The Summer Without Men, The Blazing World, which was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2014 and won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction, and Memories of the Future - and five collections of essays: Yonder, Mysteries of the Rectangle: Essays on Painting, A Plea for Eros, Living, Thinking, Looking and A Woman Looking at Men Looking at Women. She has also published a poetry collection, Reading To You, and the memoir The Shaking Woman or A History of My Nerves. Hustvedt has a PhD in English from Columbia University and several honorary doctorates. In 2012 she was awarded the International Gabarron Prize for Thought and Humanities and in 2019 won the European Essay Prize for The Delusions of Certainty, an essay she wrote for A Woman Looking at Men Looking at Women. She is a Lecturer in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and has written on art for the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph and several exhibition catalogues. Born in Minnesota, Siri Hustvedt now lives in Brooklyn, New York.
