H.G.Widdowson is a Professor Emeritus at the University of London and an Honorary Professor at the University of Vienna. He is the author of various books and papers in the domains of applied linguistics and language education, including Defining Problems in English Language Teaching (2002), Linguistics (1996), and Practical Stylistics: An Approach to Poetry (1992).
