A study of the metaphorical links between chaos theory and the worlds of culture and literature, this book explores the strange attraction between modern theories of deterministic chaos, mythic fictions by Shakespeare and Milton and current works inspired by chaos theory which range from Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia" through detective stories and science fictions, most notably Michael Crichton's "Jurassic Park". It links "high" literature and popular literature with some of the key concepts of chaos theory - the "butterfly effect", "fractals", and the "strange attractor" providing an interesting approach both to widely taught classics and modern literature.
